That’s mighty Christian of ya, sir …

Saturday’s Washington Post mentioned plans for a Mormon church with a 105-foot steeple, in a 7-mile stretch of 16th Avenue that’s already home to 45 congregations. Some object to the steeple (not the highest in the area) plans, some object to additional traffic (though they plan a parking garage to offset the problem). One pastor, however, shows just how bigoted some can be:

“They don’t accept Jesus as the Messiah; they accept him as the prophet,” said Edward Wilson, pastor at Church of Christ, a block from the Mormon site. “It’s wrong, I disagree with it, and I wouldn’t want them in the neighborhood.”

So if you don’t think like Mr. Wilson, you don’t belong in his neighborhood. At least that’s how I read it. Mighty neighborly, ain’t it? Mighty “love thy neighbor”, ain’t it? Maybe Mr. Wilson needs to go read his good book again?
